Italy: Le Sirenuse, Positano
The Sersale Family's Positano Landmark Since 1951
Le Sirenuse opened in 1951 when four Neapolitan siblings from the Sersale family turned their seaside summer home into an eight-room hotel; more than seventy years later, the property is still run by the same family and has grown into 58 individually curated rooms and suites behind the landmark "Sirenuse red" facade. Hand-painted Vietri majolica tiles, museum-quality antiques, and vaulted ceilings run throughout, with nearly every room opening onto a private balcony facing the pool, the village, or the Mediterranean itself.
La Sponda, the hotel's romantic restaurant, is ringed by lemon trees and lit each night with more than 400 candles, looking out over Positano tumbling down the hillside. Aldo's, the hotel's cocktail bar and seafood grill, handles the more social side of the evening, and the property rounds out with an outdoor pool and a spa and fitness center.
