Greece: Mykonos Grand Hotel & Resort

Beachfront Glamour on Mykonos' Sunset Coast

Mykonos Grand covers about five acres of beachfront at Agios Ioannis, on the island's southwest coast, looking across the water to Delos. It's the larger sister property to Mykonos Riviera. White Cycladic buildings step down toward the sea, and the hotel's private beach has plush loungers and food and drink service right on the sand. There are 96 rooms and suites across more than a dozen categories, and most of them look out to sea. The top suites have private infinity pools, and the Mykonos Grand Villa adds its own heated pool and rooftop terrace. The hotel is a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World and is part of the Virtuoso portfolio.

I toured the property on a site visit, and the service is what stayed with me. I had lunch at the hotel, looking out over the beach club and the sea, and the waiters served each dish onto my plate at the table, a detail you rarely see at lunch. The food was excellent, and I was thrilled to see Taittinger on the champagne list. The setting is a little quieter and more resort-like than staying in town, but you're only a short drive from Scorpios for a sunset afternoon, and there's a complimentary evening shuttle into Mykonos Town.
