Greece: Mykonos Riviera Hotel & Spa

Sunsets Over the Aegean, Town Just Minutes Away

Mykonos Riviera sits in the hills above Tourlos, looking west over the marina and out to the Aegean. It's built in the Cycladic style, with whitewashed curves, handcrafted stone and timber pergolas stepping down the hillside, so nearly every terrace gets a view of the water. The 82 accommodations include sea-view suites (many with heated private pools or outdoor hot tubs), maisonettes with two to four bedrooms, and an eight-bedroom villa, the largest hotel villa on the island. The hotel is a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World and is part of the Virtuoso portfolio.

I stayed here myself, and the sunsets are why I'd send clients back. Every evening the sky over the harbor turns gold and then pink, and the heated infinity pool is the best seat for it. The location is very practical too. You're close to the new port, so ferry days are easy, and a complimentary shuttle gets you into Mykonos Town in minutes. Back at the hotel, it's calm, and you're well away from the late-night party crowd. Mornings started with breakfast at Seamera overlooking the water, and room service was just as good on nights I stayed in. The rooms were a highlight: the in-room amenities felt considered and generous, the heated pool was a dream (I loved seeing the wild goats on the rocks above!), and the steam shower was the best way to end a day of exploring.
